Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1/3 cup chopped mini pepperoni (or regular sized, minis are thicker)
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, chopped into smaller pieces

Wrapper

  • 5 egg roll wrappers
  • Water (for sealing edges)
  • Cooking

    • 12 inches oil for frying (e.g., vegetable or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oil: Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for frying the pizza rolls.
  2. Prepare Wrappers: Cut each egg roll wrapper into 4 equal squares to create smaller wrappers suitable for pizza rolls.
  3. Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine the chopped pepperoni, pizza sauce, and chopped mozzarella cheese thoroughly to form the filling.
  4. Fill Wrappers: Place a heaping teaspoonful of the filling onto the left-center of each wrapper square, leaving about 1/2 inch of space above and below the filling for sealing.
  5. Seal Edges: Wet the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger. Roll the wrapper gently over the filling, pressing to seal above and below the filling.
  6. Fold and Seal Ends: Wet the top and bottom edges of the roll again and gently fold them up to create a small tight seal, ensuring the rolls are tightly sealed to avoid bursting during frying.
  7. Fry the Rolls: Carefully place about 4 pizza rolls into the hot oil at a time. Fry for 1-2 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and puffy.
  8. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried pizza rolls from oil and drain on a paper towel lined plate to remove excess oil. Serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

  • Use mini pepperoni for a thicker, meatier bite or regular pepperoni chopped finely.
  • Ensure oil is at the correct temperature (350°F) to achieve crispy, golden rolls without greasiness.
  • Seal the rolls tightly to prevent oil from seeping inside or the filling from leaking out during frying.
  • These can be made ahead and frozen uncooked; fry directly from frozen, adding an extra minute to frying time.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
