Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt. Using a mandoline slicer, slice the potatoes as thinly and evenly as possible for optimal crispiness. If a mandoline is not available, carefully slice with a sharp knife as thin as you can.
  2. Soak the Slices: Place the sliced potatoes into a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 20–25 minutes. This step helps remove excess starch and is essential for achieving a crunchy texture.
  3. Dry the Potato Slices: Drain the soaked slices and lay them out on a clean towel. Pat them thoroughly dry to remove all moisture, which otherwise will impede crisping in the air fryer.
  4. Season the Potatoes: Transfer the dried slices to a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder (if using), and paprika. Toss gently to coat each slice lightly without pooling oil.
  5. Arrange and Air Fry: Spread the seasoned slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Set the air fryer temperature to 325°F (160°C) and cook for 12–18 minutes. Shake the basket every few minutes to promote even browning and to release steam.
