Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Mixture

  • 1/2 cup chopped chocolate
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt (see notes)
  • 1/2 cup sugar of choice (white, brown, sugar-free, etc.)

Dry Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (gluten-free, if needed)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk of choice (unsweetened almond milk recommended)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for the batter.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Combine with Yogurt and Sugar: Place the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt the chocolate carefully in the microwave. After melting, let it sit for 1-2 minutes, then whisk in the vanilla yogurt and sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Transfer this mixture to a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Into the mixing bowl with the chocolate mixture, add the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda. Stir gently until just combined to form a consistent batter.
  4. Incorporate Milk and Mix Thoroughly: Pour in the milk of your choice and mix well until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.
  5. Fold in Chocolate Chips: If using, gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter for added texture and flavor.
  6. Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer or toothpick inserted into the center comes out just clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer the brownies carefully to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting and serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute the vanilla yogurt with plain Greek yogurt and add a teaspoon of vanilla extract for flavor.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the all-purpose flour is replaced with a gluten-free blend.
  • Choose your preferred type of sugar based on dietary preferences such as white sugar, brown sugar, or sugar-free alternatives.
  • Milk of choice can be any plant-based or dairy milk; unsweetened almond milk is recommended for lower calories.
  • Chocolate chips are optional but add extra richness and texture to the brownies.
