4.8 from 70 reviews

This Easy Matcha Tiramisu is a luscious, gluten-free, and eggless dessert that combines the earthy flavor of matcha with creamy mascarpone filling. Perfect for tea lovers looking for a light yet indulgent treat, this no-bake tiramisu features layers of gluten-free ladyfingers dipped in matcha-infused water, topped with a fluffy matcha mascarpone cream and a dusting of matcha powder.

Ingredients

Scale

Matcha Mascarpone Cream

  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese, at room temperature

Cookie Layer

  • ½ cup hot water
  • 2 tsp matcha powder
  • 12 gluten free ladyfingers (use double the amount if using regular ladyfingers)

Topping

  • 2 tsp matcha powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare Matcha Mascarpone Cream: Add heavy whipping cream to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until it starts to thicken. Gradually add granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and matcha powder, then continue beating for 4-5 minutes until stiff peaks form.
  2. Combine Mascarpone: Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream mixture just until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cream light and fluffy. Set the cream aside.
  3. Make Matcha Soaking Liquid: In a shallow bowl, whisk together hot water and matcha powder until the matcha is completely dissolved and smooth.
  4. Dip Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each gluten free ladyfinger into the matcha water (do not soak them) and lay them in a single layer on the bottom of an 8×8 inch dish. Trim or cut the cookies if necessary to cover the bottom evenly. If cookies absorb liquid quickly, prepare additional matcha soaking liquid.
  5. Add First Cream Layer: Spread half of the matcha mascarpone cream evenly over the layer of dipped ladyfingers and smooth with a spatula.
  6. Add Second Layer: Dip the remaining ladyfingers in matcha water and add them as a second layer on top of the cream. Follow with the remaining mascarpone cream and smooth the surface.
  7. Dust with Matcha: Use a fine mesh strainer to dust the top layer generously with matcha powder.
  8. Refrigerate: Cover the dish and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld and cream to set. Dust with additional matcha powder before serving if desired.

Notes

  • Use gluten free ladyfingers for a true gluten free version; double the amount if using regular ladyfingers as they are smaller.
  • This tiramisu is eggless and does not require baking—perfect for an easy no-bake dessert.
  • Adjust the amount of matcha powder based on your taste preference for stronger or milder matcha flavor.
  • If you cannot find gluten free ladyfingers, you can make your own egg-free ladyfingers at home.
  • Be careful not to soak the ladyfingers too long in the matcha water to prevent sogginess.
  • The dessert tastes best after chilling overnight but can be served after a minimum of 4 hours.
