Perfect for enjoying hot or iced, this comforting beverage is enhanced with a touch of cinnamon for added depth. An easy and flavorful twist on classic tea, ideal for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose leaf)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Milk Mixture

  • 1/2 cup milk (any type, such as dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
  • 45 fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 12 teaspoons vanilla syrup

Optional

  • Ice (optional for iced version)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cherries: Start by simmering the pitted and halved cherries with 2 tablespoons of water in a small saucepan over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes until the cherries soften. Gently mash them to release their juices and create a flavorful base.
  2. Brew Tea: While the cherries are simmering, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Pour the boiling water over the Earl Grey tea bag or loose leaves and steep for 3 to 5 minutes to extract the aromatic flavors. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves once brewed.
  3. Heat Milk: Add the milk and the optional cinnamon stick to the saucepan with the softened cherries. Heat gently over low to medium heat, stirring continuously to combine the flavors without boiling the milk.
  4. Combine: Stir the vanilla syrup into the milk and cherry mixture. Pour the brewed Earl Grey tea into a mug, then strain the milk and cherry mixture into the mug, pressing the cherries to extract additional juice. Stir well to meld all the flavors together.
  5. Serve: Enjoy the tea hot immediately. For a chilled version, let the tea cool to room temperature, pour over ice, and optionally garnish with a fresh cherry or a cinnamon stick for added aroma and presentation.

Notes

  • Use any type of milk you prefer including dairy, almond, oat, or soy for different flavor profiles.
  • The vanilla syrup can be adjusted to taste or substituted with vanilla extract if preferred.
  • For a stronger cherry flavor, allow cherries to simmer longer or add more fresh cherries.
  • The cinnamon stick is optional but adds a subtle warmth and spice to the tea.
  • This tea can be enjoyed hot or iced according to your preference.
