Ingredients

Scale

Flatbread Base

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 34 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Toppings

  • 2 small Macintosh apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 6 ounces brie cheese, rind removed and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
  • Honey, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit and position the oven rack in the middle to ensure even heat distribution.
  2. Prepare Dough: Add the extra virgin olive oil to your baking pan or pizza stone, making sure to coat the surface well to prevent sticking. Stretch out the pizza dough evenly over the oiled surface.
  3. Add Cheese: Arrange the sliced brie cheese over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges to allow for dough expansion during baking.
  4. Add Apples and Sage: Evenly distribute the thinly sliced Macintosh apples on top of the brie, then sprinkle the chopped fresh sage over the entire surface for added flavor.
  5. Bake: Place the flatbread in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown on the bottom and edges and the brie has fully melted and started to bubble.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the flatbread from the oven and immediately drizzle honey over the top for a subtle sweetness. Transfer to a cutting board and cut into 10 pieces for serving.

Notes

  • For best results, remove the rind from the brie to prevent a bitter taste in the flatbread.
  • You can substitute Macintosh apples with other tart-sweet apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith.
  • If you don’t have fresh sage, dried sage can be used but use about half the amount due to its stronger flavor.
  • To keep the flatbread crispy, serve immediately after baking.
  • Make sure to oil the baking surface well to avoid the dough sticking during baking.
