Bat Oreos are a spooky, no-bake Halloween treat perfect for all ages. These fun, easy-to-make snacks combine classic Double Stuf Oreo cookies with melted chocolate and candy eyeballs to create adorable bat-shaped confections that are sure to impress at any Halloween party or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Bats

  • 10 Oreo Cookies (Double Stuf recommended)
  • 1/2 cup Mini Semisweet Chocolate Chips (melted for bat assembly)
  • 1/2 cup Candy Eyeballs (for decoration)

For Decoration

  • 1/4 cup Additional Chocolate Chips (for detailing and drizzle)
  • Sprinkles or Edible Glitter (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Separate and Prepare Cookies: Gently twist apart 10 Oreo cookies and scrape off the creamy filling. Break half of the cookie pieces in two to form the bat wings.
  2. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup of mini semisweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring frequently until smooth. Reserve 1/4 cup of chocolate chips for later decoration and melt separately.
  3. Assemble Bats: Using melted chocolate as glue, attach the broken Oreo halves onto the cream side of a whole Oreo cookie to create wings. Then place another Oreo half on top to form the bat’s body.
  4. Add Horns and Details: Use a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate to paint on small horns. Attach mini chocolate chips or other decorative elements to add character to your bats.
  5. Attach Eyeballs: Secure candy eyeballs onto the bats with a dot of melted chocolate to bring your bat treats to life.
  6. Set the Bats: Arrange your assembled Bat Oreos on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let them set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes, or refrigerate for faster setting.
  7. Optional Decoration: Drizzle additional melted chocolate and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter for a festive touch.

Notes

  • Handle cookies gently to avoid crumbling the delicate halves used for wings.
  • Melt chocolate in short intervals to prevent burning and maintain smooth texture.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking while the chocolate sets.
  • Store assembled Bat Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Substitute candy eyes with icing or edible markers if unavailable.
